Plaid Connectivity Disclosure
Finding Wealth uses Plaid Technologies, Inc. to enable you to connect your bank accounts and import transaction data. This page explains what Plaid is, how the connection works, what data is accessed, and what the connection cannot do.
What is Plaid?
Plaid is a third-party financial data connectivity provider that acts as a secure intermediary between your financial institution and apps like Finding Wealth. Plaid is used by thousands of financial applications and is subject to its own privacy policy and terms of service, available at plaid.com.
When you connect a bank account in Finding Wealth, you are interacting directly with Plaid's interface (Plaid Link), not Finding Wealth's servers.
How the connection works
The connection process is as follows:
- You click "Connect Account" in Finding Wealth.
- Plaid Link opens — a secure interface hosted and operated by Plaid, not Finding Wealth.
- You enter your banking credentials directly into Plaid's encrypted interface. Your credentials are never transmitted to or stored by Finding Wealth.
- Plaid authenticates with your institution and returns a read-only access token to Finding Wealth.
- Finding Wealth stores the encrypted access token and uses it to retrieve account balances and transactions.
What we can do with the connection
What the connection cannot do
The access token issued by Plaid is read-only. Finding Wealth cannot move money, make payments, or take any action that modifies your account at your financial institution.
Data stored by Finding Wealth
After a successful connection, Finding Wealth stores:
- The encrypted Plaid access token (AES-256-GCM, stored server-side only).
- Account metadata (institution name, account name, account type, masked account number).
- Transaction records (date, amount, description, merchant name, category) as returned by Plaid.
Your banking username and password are never stored by Finding Wealth.
Disconnecting an account
You can disconnect any linked account at any time from the Live Accounts page in Finding Wealth. Disconnecting immediately revokes the Plaid access token and stops all data syncing. The access token is deleted from our database.
Transaction history already imported before disconnection remains in your account. You can delete this data by deleting the account records or by deleting your Finding Wealth account entirely.
Plaid's privacy policy
By connecting a bank account through Finding Wealth, you also agree to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy. Finding Wealth is not responsible for Plaid's data handling practices. We encourage you to review Plaid's privacy policy at plaid.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Canadian financial institutions
Plaid supports connectivity with major Canadian financial institutions. Availability varies by institution. Not all account types may be supported. If your institution is not supported or you experience connectivity issues, you can contact support@findingwealth.ca for assistance.
